Also among his historically significant reports is his 1992 revelation that Iraqi Kurdish leaders Celâl Talabânî and Mesut Barzânî were given Turkish diplomatic passports on the orders of then-President Turgut Özal. He witnessed the 1991 Gulf War and the 2003 invasion of Iraq by U.S.-led international forces from within Iraq. He was among the first journalists to interview General Pervez Müşerref, who seized power through a coup in Pakistan. Throughout his professional career, he has reported on historic events including coups, wars, migrations, earthquakes, and numerous international agreements in dozens of countries, among them Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Syria, and Pakistan. He has been honored by many professional organizations as journalist and anchor of the year. He teaches Television Journalism and Anchoring courses at universities. He is the author of the book "Kod Adı: Sapkın," which exposed Adnan Oktar and his criminal organization, for which Oktar was sentenced to life imprisonment.
